Hemianthus Callitrichoides 5cm Pot
Hemianthus Callitrichoides 5cm Pot
One of the most popular planted aquarium plants, this little beauty will transform your tank. Hemianthus callitrichoides originates from Cuba and is one of the smallest aquarium plants. With round leaves that are only millimetre's in size.
If planted in clumps a few cm apart it will spread rapidly creating a carpet look over the bottom. It is not a difficult plant, but it requires good conditions such as enough light, added CO2, water circulation and fertilizer to thrive. If these conditions are hard to create, you may use Micranthemum ‘Monte-Carlo’ as an alternative, as it is less demanding.
Small pearls or bubbles of oxygen are often produced on top of the plants, adding a very lively aspect to the carpet.
If planted in small clumps a few centimetres apart, it will spread rapidly and cover the bottom like a carpet. Trim the carpet regularly, otherwise, the lower parts will not get enough light causing root death.
1 pot per 15x15cm area. Split each pot into 12 and leave 10mm of rockwool at the bottom of each clump to anchor it down in the substrate. Use tweezers and plant up. Ensure CO2 is washed over this plant otherwise it has a tendency to melt.
